Having all three of their laundromats named on Evening Magazine’s “2014’s Best of Western Washington” was cause for celebration for a family that loves working together. Monroe Laundry came in #1, Snohomish Laundry, #4 and Tolt Laundry, #11— definitely a high-five.
A Clear Mission: Taking time off from her career to spend with her newborn son, Lily Li and her husband Sebastian Neo were looking for a way to replace a former income with a business they could call their own. Living in the Mission District of San Francisco, the couple considered the needs of the community and combined with Li’s experience in finance and managing loans for dry cleaning businesses, they knew a coin-op laundry would be a sustainable income that met their work schedule in their new lives as parents.
Back to School: The college town of Thatcher, AZ had long been underserved by coin-op laundry services. Between the student population and contractors coming in and out of area town for construction projects, plus the Thatcher residents, area businessman Pat Rowan observed the need for a quality coin-op laundromat in town.
Freedom from a 9-5 job: After many years working with his parents in the restaurant business in Alaska, Case Harris moved to the central Oregon coast and bought his first Laundromat. Harris knew he wanted to start his own business, and he and his father explored many entrepreneurial options before deciding on the retail laundry business. This business provides the flexibility Harris was looking for in order to spend time with his family.
A Second Chance: Don Russell and Steve Doherty opened a car wash in Boardman, Oregon in 2002. At the time they considered adding a coin-op laundromat to the site, but decided against it. After twelve years, they took another look at the opportunity and teamed up with Dexter laundry equipment and Western State Design to build a brand new, energy efficient laundromat for his underserved community.
